UIC Barcelona attends the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education Conference in Hong Kong

The International Relations Service at UIC Barcelona recently took part in the conference organised by the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE), which brought together university representatives from across the globe to advance international education in Asia

Eduardo Mirpuri, vice-rector for International Relations, and Vanessa Willenberg, Global Partnerships manager in the International Relations Service, represented UIC Barcelona at the APAIE (Asia-Pacific Association for International Education) Conference, held in Hong Kong from 23–27 February, as part of the delegation of Catalan universities. The event drew a total of 3,592 representatives from 72 countries.

During the congress, the International Relations team held meetings with several universities and international institutions, including San Diego University, Westcliff University, Universidad del Desarrollo (Chile), Hanze University of Applied Sciences – with which a new agreement was recently signed – Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Western Australia. These sessions served to strengthen existing relationships and consolidate new avenues for cooperation.

Following the conference, the team conducted several institutional visits to universities in China, among them Southern Medical University, Guangzhou College of Technology and Business and Qingdao University.

UIC Barcelona's presence at the APAIE Conference helped reinforce its international partnerships and expand its network of contacts, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, an area of growing significance in global higher education.

The next edition of the APAIE Conference will take place from 21–25 March 2027 in Malaysia.
