UIC Barcelona bestows honorary doctorates upon Dr Janne Haaland Matláry and Dr Aldo Boccaccini
Dr Montserrat Nebrera, director of the Carlemany Institute for European Studies, will have the honour of reading the laudatio for Dr Janne Haaland Matláry; while Dr Román Pérez, director of the UIC Barcelona Bioengineering Institute of Technology, will read the laudatio for Dr Aldo Roberto Boccaccini
On Monday 17 November, the Aula Magna on the Barcelona Campus at UIC Barcelona will host the Honorary Doctorate Investiture Ceremony for Dr Janne Haaland Matláry and Dr Aldo Boccaccini.
Professor of International Politics at the University of Oslo, Dr Janne Haaland Matláry is a top name in humanist feminism and one of the leading European intellectuals in the field of international relations, human rights and ethical reflection on contemporary politics.
For his part, Dr Aldo Boccaccini, nuclear engineer, is one of the most prominent international authorities on the development of biomaterials and head of the Institute of Biomaterials at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Recently awarded a prestigious distinction from the European Society for Biomaterials, Dr Boccaccini’s work as a researcher stands out due to its integrated approach, which combines materials, biology and engineering with a clear focus on innovation and clinical translation.
Dr Montserrat Nebrera, director of the Carlemany Institute for European Studies, will have the honour of reading the laudatio for Dr Janne Haaland Matláry; while Dr Román Pérez, director of the UIC Barcelona Bioengineering Institute of Technology will read the laudatio for Dr Aldo Roberto Boccaccini.
With the investiture of Dr Janne H. Matláry and Dr Aldo Boccaccini, UIC Barcelona will have bestowed a total of twelve honorary doctorates. Since the first award, the University has recognised internationally renowned figures in such diverse fields as medicine, engineering, social sciences, architecture and humanist thought.
