UIC Barcelona concludes its series of training sessions on AI for teaching staff, led by Pep Martorell
The Observatory on Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies (OIANT) at UIC Barcelona has organised a series of training sessions for teaching and research staff (PDI) to explore the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching, research, and the specific professional context of each field of knowledge. The sessions were delivered by Pep Martorell, associate director of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and an expert in digital transformation.
The first session, held on 19 May, focused on the legal sector and launched this series, which aimed to analyse the impact of AI in each professional field, explore its opportunities, and encourage the strategic integration of this technology into academic activity. During April and May, specialist sessions were held for the fields of Business Administration, Education, Communication, Humanities and Health Sciences.
The training sessions combined a theoretical introduction to AI with practical examples, emerging trends, and use cases to support reflection on how to incorporate this technology into curricula, research, and knowledge transfer. They were designed to offer useful tools and a strategic vision tailored to the needs of each faculty.
With this initiative, OIANT and the vice-rectorate for Academic Organisation, Teaching Staff and Quality (VOAPQ) reaffirm their commitment to the continuous professional development of teaching and research staff and to advancing a university aligned with today’s technological and social challenges.
