UIC Barcelona ranks among the top 15 Spanish universities according to the 2021 CYD ranking

The University holds first position in the field of Dentistry and fifth in Medicine

This Wednesday, 12 May, the Knowledge and Development Foundation (CYD) published the overall results of the 2021 Spanish university ranking. In this 8th edition, UIC Barcelona managed to position itself among the 15 best Spanish universities due to the high number of performance indicators it achieved.

Therefore, our University occupies the twelfth position among 77 Spanish universities and again stands out in the dimension of “Contribution to Regional Development” together with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the University of Malaga, the University of Navarra and the University of La Laguna.

In terms of fields of knowledge, UIC Barcelona competed in the fields of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Psychology and managed to occupy the first position in the field of Dentistry, out of the sixteen Spanish universities, due to the high number of performance indicators it achieved.

In the field of Medicine, our institution occupies fifth position out of 39 Spanish universities. In the field of Nursing, its growth is highlighted as compared to the 2018 edition, since it obtained twelfth position out of the 44 Spanish universities that applied.

In this year's edition, 77 Spanish universities (49 public and 29 private) participated and 27 areas of knowledge were analysed—two of which are new: Veterinary and Agricultural sciences— as well as 2.998 degree programmes overall.

The CYD Foundation ranking is a tool that allows the quality of the Spanish university system to be measured and compared through an analysis of indicators, classified into performance groups and grouped into six aspects: “Teaching and Learning”; “Research”; “Knowledge Transfer”; “International Guidance”; “Contribution to Regional Development”; and “Labour Insertion”.
