UIC Barcelona Summer Programme: an international, innovative and multidisciplinary academic initiative

The summer programme offers an international university experience in Barcelona, combining high‑quality teaching, cultural diversity and strong connections with professional practice

The University is launching a new edition of the UIC Barcelona Summer Programme, an academic initiative aimed at university students who wish to make the most of the summer period by complementing their studies in an international setting. Based in Barcelona, the programme offers an intensive experience that brings together academic learning, cultural exchange and personal development.

The UIC Barcelona Summer Programme brings together a range of courses designed to address contemporary challenges from an innovative and cross-disciplinary perspective. The academic offering covers areas such as entrepreneurship with social impact, bioengineering, neuroscience, architecture, history, art and digital content creation, and is designed to provide a practical introduction to different fields of knowledge. Teaching is delivered in English and is complemented by workshops, company visits and activities that connect classroom learning with professional practice and the city’s cultural environment.

The programme is open to both local and international students and promotes a shared learning environment in which diverse academic and cultural perspectives come together. This diversity results in a rich educational experience that goes beyond course content, supporting the development of key skills such as intercultural communication, adaptability and the ability to work in global contexts.

In addition, UIC Barcelona places a strong emphasis on student support, through a model that prioritises personalised attention and facilitates both academic and social integration. The possibility of credit recognition for most courses adds further value to a flexible programme designed to fit into students’ academic pathways.

The admissions period for the programme remains open until 1 May 2026 and is aimed primarily at undergraduate students with an intermediate level of English.

“The UIC Barcelona Summer Programme reflects our commitment to an international education that fosters cultural exchange and the development of a global outlook,” says Noor Alchikh, director of International Relations. “Through initiatives such as this, we strengthen our strategic focus on internationalisation and prepare students for a global environment.”

The Summer Programme is part of one of UIC Barcelona’s strategic priorities: internationalisation. The University promotes an educational model that integrates a global perspective and encourages the ability to analyse and respond to intercultural challenges. Through initiatives such as this programme, UIC Barcelona reinforces its commitment to an education that combines local and international dimensions and prepares students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

UIC Barcelona currently has nearly 9,000 students and offers sixteen bachelor’s degrees, more than fifty international double degrees and a wide range of master’s degrees and postgraduate programmes, delivered across eight faculties located on its campuses in Barcelona and Sant Cugat del Vallès. With a strong international profile, the University’s campuses bring together students from over one hundred nationalities, creating a multicultural environment that enriches the learning experience.
