Risk management

In "The Risk Society" (1986) Ulrich Beck highlighted the new consequences that science and technology have brought to life in society, emphasising that while technology has been a great ally to mitigate natural hazards, it has also introduced anthropogenic risks stemming from human action and technology.

Risk management presents unique challenges, often without scientific consensus and with significant ethical and legal implications. This line of interdisciplinary research aims to develop guidelines and bioethical codes for public administrations, companies and scientific committees, which help decision-making in situations of uncertainty about the consequences for public health and environmental protection.
