Introduction

This subjet has been conceived as based on a relevant premise for university education: the main challenges and problems which a graduate will face in the future are not to be solved with techniques that can be taught but with a deep understanding of human condition. Therefore, it is all about reflecting on that which is human in oneself, economic activities and society.

Last decades' economic and financial crises make it the more obvious and necessary to have such a mindset in those who will have to decide on other people tomorrow. Only serene and honest reflection about the person, economic life and society can provide orientation in navigating an increasingly complex world. Nowadays, to stop and think, to adopt a humanistic view on the world, acquires the category of an urgent humanitarian task.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person

  • For the first sitting:

20% partial exam

50% final exam

30% submissions

To pass the subject it is necessary to pass separately the submissions part and the final exam. The pass grade is 5.0.

  • For the second sitting:

- If the student failed the exam and passed the submissions, he/she will have to retake the final exam and pass it. In this case, the final grade will be calculated with 30% submissions previous grade + 70% final exam second sitting.

- If the student failed the submissions and passed the exam, he/she will have to pass the submissions he/she failed. In this case, the submissions grade will be recalculated and the final grade will result from 30% submissions new grade + 70% theory previous grade (partial + final)

- If the student failed both the submissions and exam, he/she will have to pass the submissions he/she failed and retake and pass the final exam. In this case, the submissions grade will be recalculated and the final grade will result from 30% submissions new grade + 70% final exam second sitting.

In either of these three possibilities, the pass grade is 5.0. According to the Degree rules, the maximum grade in second sitting is 7.0.

Also according to the Degree rules, any forgery or fraud in the submissions or cheating on an exam, be it partial or final, will be penalised with a fail in first and second sitting, and the student will have to register again to the subject the following year.
