Introduction

The course allows students to have the first contact with a professional experience in the field of Audiovisual Communication. It allows the concepts learned in classes, workshops to be applied to the market, always supervised by the academic tutor of the University and the tutor assigned by the company.

A minimum of 300 internship hours must be completed at a company located within the country, such as advertising agencies, event agencies, media outlets, communication departments of public or private companies, institutions, etc.

Pre-course requirements

Compulsory subject, available for enrollment only for 4th-year Advertising students.

Objectives

The course aims to provide a theoretical foundation in various language theories to introduce students to audiovisual analysis, a key element for communication in the fields of advertising and public relations. Students will learn how meaning-making processes are articulated in this language and become aware of the influence of cinematic style on all types of audiovisual projects.

Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

  • CN03 - Identify the key stakeholders, departments and professional roles within advertising and public relations agencies, understanding their functions in the design and implementation of communication campaigns.
  • CP01 - Work effectively in professional advertising and public relations teams, adapting to multidisciplinary and changing environments.Work effectively in professional teams involved in audiovisual production, adapting to multidisciplinary and changing environments.
  • CP02 - Communicate persuasive arguments orally and in writing in Catalan, Spanish and English, demonstrating strong skills in summarising and memorisation.
  • CP03 - Apply ethical and professional standards in advertising and public relations practice, respecting the fundamental right to equality between women and men, promoting human rights, a culture of peace and democratic values, including the use of inclusive, non-discriminatory and stereotype-free language.

Learning outcomes of the subject

Students will be able to:

  1. Apply the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired throughout the degree in a real professional environment within the field of advertising and public relations.

  2. Develop effective oral and written communication skills in diverse professional contexts.

  3. Demonstrate the ability to work in teams and adapt to the organisational dynamics of the advertising and public relations sector.

  4. Use tools and technologies specific to the professional fields of advertising and public relations efficiently.

  5. Critically analyse advertising campaigns and public relations strategies within the context of the company or institution where the internship takes place.

  6. Develop creative and strategic proposals to address real communication problems in the professional environment.

  7. Demonstrate ethical behaviour and professional responsibility in the practice of advertising and public relations.

  8. Reflect on the practical experience and its relationship to personal professional goals, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for future development.

Syllabus

To support the successful completion of the internship, students will be guided by two mentors: the assigned workplace supervisor at the host organisation and the internship coordinator(s) at the Faculty.

This approach promotes the continuous development of students' professional competencies, facilitating their future integration into the labour market.

Throughout the course, a series of sessions will be organised to address the following topics:

  • Understanding the professional sector.
  • Personal branding.
