From 30 September to 2 October, the University will host the 16th International Congress of the Hispanic Society of Philosophical Anthropology (SHAF), entitled Homo Pictor: Art, Imagination and Creation, an academic gathering that reflects on humans as beings who imagine, depict and create.

The congress will explore, from the perspective of philosophical anthropology, the relationship between the human capacity to imagine and create and contemporary perspectives on what it means to be human. In this context, it will address a range of questions, from our experience of the world and the history of images to how technological, cultural and ecological challenges are reshaping the creative process.

The event will bring together researchers, university teaching staff, philosophy lecturers and doctoral students for an interdisciplinary dialogue on art, imagination and creation. The programme will be divided into sessions featuring contributed papers and invited presentations.

The congress has been organised by UIC’s Institute for Culture and Thought and Faculty of Humanities, in collaboration with the Hispanic Society of Philosophical Anthropology (SHAF), the Catalan Society of Philosophy, the Ortega y Gasset International Chair and the Faculty of Philosophy at UNED.
