We select teaching staff from different faculties to teach our cross-cutting courses.

Gaudí Programme

The aim of the Gaudí Programme is to provide new teaching staff at UIC Barcelona the necessary training to understand what it means to be a university teacher and enhance their teaching skills. Inspired by the mosaics of the great Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, this programme builds a mosaic of knowledge through different training modules, shaping the essence of the university educator.

The programme covers institutional aspects of the University, the challenges of higher education and the competencies required for high-quality teaching, with a particular focus on methodology and practical tools. It is an initiative of the Institute for Culture and Thought, in cooperation with several vice-rectorates and departments, designed to guide and enrich educational practice.

It is primarily aimed at lecturers with less than five years of teaching experience at UIC Barcelona.

Interdisciplinary Thought Seminars

The Institute for Culture and Thought organises interdisciplinary seminars for teaching staff, creating spaces for reflection and dialogue on essential questions about human existence and the University. These seminars address topics that connect various disciplines and enrich teaching practice.

Each session is led by renowned experts and explores themes such as truth, beauty and service, offering tools to integrate these values into teaching. The seminars encourage the exchange of ideas, in which critical thinking and debate serve as catalysts for academic and personal transformation.

This programme provides a unique opportunity to broaden horizons, delve deeper into the foundations of different disciplines and enrich the university experience at UIC Barcelona.

“The Gaudí Programme reflects UIC Barcelona’s clear intention to enhance teacher training and adapt educational practices to the new social challenges. Despite differences between faculties, it is clear that we have much in common, and current issues must be addressed from a multidisciplinary perspective. I therefore consider it both a valuable educational and human experience to share teaching practices and promote a culture of cooperation.”"When you discover something in your knowledge, something you recognise as true as a teacher, you passionately want to transmit this to your students, so it can be applied, wherever possible, to society. The classic expression ‘it is better to give than to receive’ is not fully realised until you give joyfully, with freedom and generosity. It is then that the return becomes complete. Serving others, society, brings peace and motivates you to keep seeking knowledge; in short, the truth."
