Who we are

We are an institute within UIC Barcelona whose objective is to promote cross-cutting humanistic education among the University’s students and teaching staff.

The aim of both the academic curriculum and the activities organised by the CIP is to develop intellectual habits that will not only help you grow as a professional but also discover who you are as a person. Underlying the CIP’s educational approach is a desire to address multidimensional issues, generate thought-provoking questions on complex topics and encourage reflection to find meaningful answers.

What we do

Academic programme: We offer an 18-credit (180-hour) programme across all degrees at the University that addresses fundamental issues of human existence in relation with current challenges

Teacher training: We provide training for all University teaching staff to help them incorporate a humanistic perspective into all degree programmes.

We prepare teaching staff from different faculties to teach our courses, ensuring that a holistic education is available in each classroom at the University.

We want to

  • Educate people, not just professionals.
  • Encourage critical reflection on fundamental aspects of human existence.
  • Create citizens who are committed to the needs of their communities.
  • Develop a critical spirit and inquisitive minds.
