The Affective-Effective Model Awards win with the New Medical Economics Award in the category of Best Work in Humanising Healthcare

The Affective-Effective Model Awards were developed at UIC Barcelona by the University Institute for Patient Care, known as the Albert J. Jovell Institute in 2014 and sponsored by Janssen. Currently they have the support of Cátedras en Red, a network of representative chairs from Spanish universities

The event, which was held in Madrid, awarded the best Spanish hospitals in 2023, as well as the work carried out by pharmaceutical companies and innovative foundations committed to corporate social responsibility, as well as the internationalisation of healthcare. Within this category, Cátedras en Red and the Affective-Effective Model Awards founded by the UIC Barcelona University Institute for Patient Care received the award for “Best Work in Humanising Healthcare”, along with the Puerta de Hierro University Hospital.

Dr Boi Ruiz, director of the University Institute for Patient Care and director of the Healthcare Management Chair at the University, collected the award for Network Chairs together with Pedro Martínez, director of Institutional Relations at Janssen. Both accepted the award on behalf of Cátedras en Red and Janssen and expressed the willingness to continue promoting health care based on the values of effectivity and affectivity.

During the event, prizes were awarded in a number of categories, including the best sustainable development policies, research development, the internationalisation of Spanish healthcare, social and health outreach, the promotion of innovation, best practices in the patient experience, and more. For the first time this year, the awards included the category “Female leadership in management”.

The 9th New Medical Economics Awards brought together more than 250 representatives from the health authorities, professional organisations and scientific societies, as well as senior executives from the pharmaceutical industry. During his speech, José María Martínez García, president of New Medical Economics, highlighted the publication’s objective of improving training in health management for Spanish managers. He highlighted the opportunity to publish issues of the magazine in collaboration with universities such as UIC Barcelona or the Complutense University of Madrid.
