Alexander Swienton, recipient of the Josep Torrella Scholarship, visits the offices of Torrella Engineering and Architecture
The architecture student at UIC Barcelona gained first-hand insight into the company’s activity as part of the collaboration between Torrella and UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.
Alexander Swienton, a student on the Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture at UIC Barcelona and recipient of the Josep Torrella Scholarship, recently visited the offices of Torrella Ingeniería y Arquitectura to learn first-hand about the company’s operations and projects.
Swienton, who is currently enrolled in fourth- and fifth-year modules, previously completed architectural studies in the United Kingdom, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. He later decided to continue his education at UIC Barcelona, combining academic training with professional experience.
During the visit to Torrella, the student was accompanied by Umberto Bini, head of Corporate Partnerships at UIC Barcelona, and Cinta Lluís Teruel, deputy director for Students at UIC Barcelona School of Architecture. They were welcomed by Cristina Mollet, head of Operations, and Fedde Huistra, director of Architecture.
Throughout the tour of the facilities, the group learnt in detail about the company’s work, the services it provides and some of the projects it has developed, in an encounter that encouraged the exchange of experience between the academic and professional spheres.
Alongside his dedication to his studies, Alexander Swienton stands out for his entrepreneurial profile. He currently combines university studies and his work in an architecture studio with the development of his own company, FIKA Studio SLP, which focuses on architectural refurbishment and property management and brokerage.
The Josep Torrella Scholarship is aimed at students on the Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya who are enrolled in fourth- and fifth-year modules. This initiative is part of Torrella Engineering and Architecture’s commitment to education and young talent. It is included within the #TalentsWithAFuture campaign, which promotes grants and financial aid to foster students’ academic and professional development.
