Dr Francesc Cano has been a lecturer in the Journalism and Audiovisual Communication degree programmes at UIC since 2008, teaching subjects including Radio Production, Television Programming and Media Structure. Cano is also a UIC graduate, having completed the Master’s Degree in Research in Humanities, Social Sciences and Law in 2012.

The lecturer will take over as director following his time at La Manchester, one of Catalonia’s main audiovisual production companies. Previously, Cano worked at Catalunya Ràdio, where he coordinated content for Catalunya Cultura and the news programmes on Catalunya Vespre. He also served as director of News at Catalunya Ràdio from 2012 to 2022.

Cano joins RAC1 at a time when the station leads the radio broadcasting sector in Catalonia, with more than one million daily listeners. Grupo Godó announced Cano’s appointment as the station’s new director on 7 September, a role he will formally step into on 1 October 2026.

At UIC, Francesc Cano is one of the Faculty of Communication’s most experienced lecturers in the fields of radio and television. In recent years, he has been pivotal in organising UIC Radio Day, an event organised by the University to celebrate World Radio Day and which brings together teaching staff, students and industry professionals each year.
