Dr Marta Satorres has received the Lazo al Mérito Humanitario (Ribbon of Humanitarian Merit), a prestigious distinction awarded by the Institución del Mérito Humanitario (IMH) to professionals and public figures who demonstrate outstanding social commitment and humanitarian work. The award ceremony took place on 23 May at the Hotel El Palace Barcelona, as part of the organisation’s annual event recognising individuals and institutions that contribute to social wellbeing and promote humanitarian initiatives.

She currently combines her teaching and research at the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Dentistry with her responsibilities as vice-dean for research.

During the ceremony, Dr Anna Hospital, a lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry and a leading figure in the field of dentistry and forensic medicine, was appointed delegate of the IMH in Girona. This appointment acknowledges her career and her commitment to the organisation’s values.

The event was also attended by Dr Giner, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Dr Elisa Sanagustín, Faculty manager. Both have previously been honoured by the IMH, with Dr Giner receiving the Medalla al Mérito Humanitario (Medal of Humanitarian Merit) in 2024 and Dr Sanagustín awarded the Lazo al Mérito Humanitario in 2025.

Founded in Barcelona in 1999 and officially recognised by the Ministry of the Interior, the IMH honours individuals and organisations each year for their exemplary service to society and their commitment to humanitarian values.
