The European Commission renews UIC Barcelona’s Erasmus Charter for the period 2021-2027

The University has been granted the renewal of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), a recognition given by the European Union which is required to participate in the new Erasmus Programme starting in 2021 and ending in 2027

UIC Barcelona has renewed its Erasmus Charter after passing the accreditation process opened by the European Union with a high score (76 points out of 100), which represents a very positive recognition of the University's commitment to internationalisation.

The Erasmus Charter is the prerequisite for participating in the Programme and constitutes a general framework for the quality of European and international cooperation activities that any higher education centre carries out as part of the Erasmus+ Programme.

The new Erasmus Programme has three new objectives relating to digitisation, inclusion and sustainability, which any participating institution must assume as its own. It is set within the context of greater institutional interconnectivity, increased cooperation and more physical and virtual mobility.

In addition, some new developments have been introduced such as increased support for participants in all socio-economic situations, compulsory digitisation and automation of all processes (Erasmus Without Papers) and the implementation of sustainable initiatives.

During the last Erasmus+ project (2014-2020), 419 UIC Barcelona students carried out Erasmus+ mobility stays and, in return, the University received more than 611 students from different foreign institutions. In terms of teaching, research, administration and service staff (PDI and PAS), UIC Barcelona is currently involved in a total of 63 mobility activities, a number the institution hopes will increase with launch of this new project.
