From the Faculty to the MNAC: the tenth edition of Filmmaking searches for the best locations
Marking its tenth anniversary, Filmmaking organised by the Faculty of Communication Sciences once again screened student remakes produced by Audiovisual Communication students, this year focusing on titles such as Seven, Scream, Skyfall and The Office.
The Faculty of Communication Sciences’ flagship extracurricular activity for Audiovisual Communication students brought together around sixty attendees at the University’s Aula Jardí, including students, teaching staff and family members. During the event, the different working groups had the opportunity to present this year’s remakes to the audience: Seven, Scream, Skyfall and The Office.
Once again, the students demonstrated the breadth and depth of the project across all its stages, from pre-production and filming through to audiovisual editing. The remake of Skyfall was filmed at the National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC), while the team recreating a scene from Seven travelled to the Los Monegros desert, in the province of Zaragoza.
Ignasi Guerrero, a graduate of the Faculty, once again acted as tutor for the activity, supporting the students throughout the filming process. “Compared with last year, this edition has already seen some students stand out by taking on clear leadership roles,” the professional explained. Guerrero, creative director at the production company Storytime Project, also highlighted the value of the initiative’s ten-year trajectory: “Projects like this build trust within the team and help bring out the talent of young students. That, in turn, leads them to explore, collaborate and go much further,” he reflected.
Ricardo Ortea, a participant in Filmmaking, was very specific when speaking about one of the key lessons he took from the experience: “What I enjoyed most was realising how important it is to change lenses during the filming of a scene, even though it might seem like a simple detail,” he explained. “I joined Filmmaking with no knowledge of cinema at all, and I am leaving having made ten remakes over the years,” he added.

Screening of the short film Con lo bien que íbamos
In addition to the awards ceremony, in which all prizes went to the Skyfall remake, the event also provided a platform for students Jan Hernández, Ricardo Ortea and Sergi Vázquez to present their short film Con lo bien que íbamos. Participants from Filmmaking were also involved in the production, which marked the launch of the production company founded by these young entrepreneurs: Onebyone. “The idea came from the need to sign all our projects under a single name. It was a dream that once felt distant, but it has now become a reality,” explained Jan Hernández, a second-year Audiovisual Communication student.
Ten years on, Filmmaking continues to be an ideal showcase for Audiovisual Communication students to step into the roles of the technical and artistic crew of a real film shoot and to explore the skills required to deliver a project such as a film or a series.
The participants in the tenth edition were: Jan Hernández, Marta Fernández-Huerta, Gabriela Andreu Cordón, Alejandro Ferrador Kwiatkowski, Clara Lerroux, Alicia Solwr, Adrián Rodríguez de Roa, Albert Torres Urpí, Marcos Küppers, Carla Lis Muñoz, Mabelle Halatsch Gómez, Judith Codina Valencia, Sergi Vázquez Perez, Mireia Sendrós Pérez, Carla Codina i Martínez, Ignasi Rivero Arquerons, Iker Formatjer Llergo, Isaac Alcaraz Kurtz, Michelle Mejía, Clement Amiard, Ana Paula Martinez, Carolina Silva, Paul Fernández Coronado and Victoria Poleo.
