Marta Trapero-Bertran, co-author of a book that analyses multi-criteria decisions in healthcare

The white paper, Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis in Healthcare, was launched on 14 February at a day-long debate session on ‘Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis MCDA in Healthcare’ organised by the Weber foundation and held in Madrid. One of the speakers in the presentation was Dr Marta Trapero-Bertran, director of the Research Institute for Evaluation and Public Bodies (IRAPP).

The project brings an academic, clinical and administrative perspective to clinical and non-clinical matters. The book offers a comprehensive framework that covers both the theoretical spectrum of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis as well as practical applications on a national and international level. In addition, it contains a compendium of recommendations to get the most out of MCDA. The study aims to be a middle ground between a manual and a route map to help decision-makers, researchers and clinics understand the true usefulness of MCDA.

“The project was produced as a joint effort by around a dozen reputable health economists with academic experience in clinics or management, offering their opinion on the national situation” said Hidalgo Vega, president of the Weber foundation.

Dr Marta Trapero-Bertran, director of the Research Institute for Evaluation and Public Bodies, was part of the team who wrote the book together with another 14 experts in the field.
