Mònica Argemí, director of the Mentoring and Personal Development Service at UIC, took part as a speaker at the  European Respiratory Society Congress 2026 (ERS Congress), held in Barcelona from 5 to 9 September and attended by healthcare professionals and specialists in respiratory medicine from around the world.

Argemí was invited to contribute to the session "Advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in respiratory medicine – From awareness to action", where she delivered the presentation "Mentorship fundamentals" and subsequently took part in a workshop exploring the application of mentoring in professional settings.

During her presentation, she addressed several key elements of an effective mentoring relationship, including supporting individuals holistically, the importance of combining trusted relationships with a diverse network of mentors, and the value of creating structures that facilitate access to mentoring for a broader range of professionals.

Her participation provided an opportunity to bring UIC’s experience and perspective in mentoring and personal development to a highly specialised international audience, while sharing a model that views mentoring not only as an individual relationship but also as a tool for fostering professional development and creating more accessible environments for growth.

The invitation also helps to strengthen the international profile of UIC’s Mentoring and Personal Development Service and reinforces the University’s position in the field of mentoring applied to professional and healthcare contexts.
