Nine women researchers from UIC Barcelona recognised among the top scientists in Spain according to the CSIC ranking

The classification, recently published by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), which includes 10,000 women researchers with the best academic indicators in Google Scholar, highlights the contribution of women in science and research in Spain.

The women researchers featured in the ranking represent various fields of knowledge and are affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Faculty of Education Sciences, the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, and the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.

In the field of health, the list includes Carmen Muñoz-Almagro (861), Esther Calbo (917), dean of the Faculty, and Esperanza Gómez (3,755), all from the department of Medicine; Rosalía Rodríguez (2,362), a researcher from the department of Biomedical Sciences; Cristina Monforte (3,719), a researcher from the department of Nursing; Caritat Bagur (5,638), a researcher from the department of Physiotherapy; and Begoña Díaz (8,629), a researcher from the department of Psychology.

In the field of education, Maria Domingo is ranked 5,822nd; and Marta Mas (3,092), a researcher and the dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences.

The CSIC ranking is based on academic profiles in Google Scholar, considering factors such as the h-index and the number of citations. Its aim is to increase the visibility of women researchers and promote the use of open tools like ORCID and RoR to improve the connection between scientific sources.

This recognition reflects UIC Barcelona's commitment to high-quality research and its impact on society. Furthermore, the University continues to encourage the production of relevant knowledge and it supports its women researchers in strengthening and expanding their presence in the national and international scientific community.
