Straumann and the Faculty of Dentistry launch the new iExcel Chair to advance digital implantology

The Faculty of Dentistry and Straumann, an international benchmark company in the field of dental implantology, are strengthening their strategic collaboration through a new initiative designed to promote specialist training, clinical research and knowledge transfer in the areas of periodontology, implantology and maxillofacial surgery.

Co-directed by Dr Marta Satorres and Dr José Nart, lecturers and researchers at the Faculty, the iExcel Chair aims to establish a stable framework for cooperation between the university and industry, enabling the development of joint academic and clinical projects. Within this framework, the Chair will promote training activities aimed at dental professionals, as well as two clinical studies focusing on periodontology and implantology, which will be carried out at the University Dental Clinic (CUO).

The iExcel Chair represents a step forward in the modernisation of dental implantology by incorporating new implant macro-designs and the full digitalisation of clinical procedures. This commitment to technology and scientific excellence reflects the shared dedication of the University and Straumann to innovation, high-quality patient care and the overall wellbeing of individuals. These solutions are developed by the Faculty of Dentistry and are applied directly for the benefit of patients treated at the CUO.

With this new company chair, the Faculty continues the research and teaching activities initiated in 2021 with the Chair in Zygomatic Implants. A New Digital Approach and reinforces a strategic collaboration that began in July 2017 with the creation of the Straumann Classroom. In doing so, the Faculty of Dentistry consolidates its collaboration model with leading companies in the dental sector and now has four classrooms and eight chairs dedicated to generating and transferring knowledge, fostering clinical innovation and creating positive social impact.
