Toni Mora, new president of the Health Economics Association (AES)

Toni Mora, vice-rector for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer at UIC Barcelona, has been appointed president of the Spanish Health Economics Association (AES), following the reappointment of two board members.

The organisation’s management made the decision at the 39th Health Economics Conference, held from 12 to 14 June in Albacete, with the slogan “Transparency is Healthy: The Importance of Accountability”. The conference’s inaugural session was attended by Spanish Minister of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare María Luisa Carcedo.

Dr Mora had previously been second vice-president of AES. Dr Mora, a full professor of Applied Economics in the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, is the author of numerous papers in the fields of economics of education and health economics, as well as the director of the UIC Barcelona Research Institute for Evaluation and Public Policies.

The AES aims to facilitate for its members the practice of professions related to health economics and to increase their interest for other professionals, especially health professionals, in this scientific field, spreading standardised methods for its pursuit. It also promotes and disseminates health economics studies by facilitating the training of experts, exchanges between professionals and the comparison of studies and research, amongst other things.
