UIC Barcelona among the best European universities, according to the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2024

UIC Barcelona has qualified for the first edition of the new international QS World University Rankings: Europe 2024,  which focuses exclusively on European universities. In this new ranking launched on the market by QS, UIC Barcelona is in position =398 of 688 European universities. Nationally it is ranked 33rd out of 43 universities.

Among the different indicators that make up this ranking, UIC Barcelona stands out in the indicators “Faculty-Student Ratio”,  where it occupies the number 1 position of 43 Spanish universities. This relationship between the number of academic staff and the number of students reflects the commitment that the University has to its Teaching and Learning mission, providing a higher number of academics per student. Under the indicator “International Student Diversity”, UIC Barcelona is among the five best Spanish universities, occupying 4th position of 43 universities. This high proportion of international students and diversity with respect to the total number of students demonstrates UIC Barcelona’s global engagement.

The methodology of this new ranking analyses the university in its different areas of “Research”, “Employability”,  “Learning”, “Global Engagement” and “Sustainability”, and focuses especially on exchange and internationalisation, since they are two fundamental metrics in Europe. It also introduces a new indicator:  International Student Diversity. In this 2024 edition, the QS ranking team analysed over 17.5 mil publications and about 141.6 mil citations in the period between 2017 and 2021.

The objective of the UIC Barcelona Statistical Data and Rankings Office is to measure the performance of different aspects of the University through data and evidence, allowing it to be visible both nationally and internationally through the social impact produced by rankings and listings.
