UIC Barcelona, among the world's top universities for Dentistry and Oral Sciences, according to the ShanghaiRanking 2025

Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) remains among the world’s top 200 universities for Dentistry and Oral Sciences, according to the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2025, one of the most prestigious international academic rankings.

SHANGHAI RANKING

The ranking, compiled annually by the independent organisation ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, evaluates university performance across 57 disciplines based on indicators such as scientific quality, researcher impact, international cooperation and academic prestige.

In the 2025 edition, UIC Barcelona placed in the 151–200 range worldwide and 4–5 nationally, cementing its position as leader among university institutions with the best performance in the subject Dentistry and Oral Sciences.

Since 2018, UIC Barcelona has been continuously ranked among the world’s top 200 universities in this discipline. Its performance over time – with notable peaks in 2021 and 2024 – reflects the strength of its teaching model, the quality of its applied research and the international profile of its teaching staff and students.

In this 2025 edition, the ranking classified a total of 300 universities worldwide in the field of Dentistry and Oral Sciences and analysed the universities that published a certain number of publications classified as “articles” between 2020–2024 (the minimum number of publications in this field is 50, and bibliometric data are collected from Web of Science and InCites).

At domestic level, in the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2025 (GRAS), UIC Barcelona remains among the country’s top ten universities in the discipline of Dentistry and Oral Sciences, a branch of Medical Sciences, and is the number one private university of the two listed in this subject.

The aim of the UIC Barcelona Statistical Data and Rankings Office is to measure the University’s performance in different areas through data and evidence, heightening its visibility both nationally and internationally through the social impact of rankings and lists.
