UIC Barcelona and the Hospital General de Granollers drive innovation and health research in the region
The Academic Conference “Exploring Opportunities” marks over 15 years of collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at UIC Barcelona and the Hospital General de Granollers, a leading university in comprehensive medical training
The event reaffirmed the joint commitment of the University and the Hospital General de Granollers to excellence in medical education, innovative teaching and research in health sciences. It brought together healthcare professionals, lecturers and researchers from both institutions to strengthen the link between academic training and clinical practice.
Since 2008, Hospital General de Granollers has been a university hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, following a pioneering agreement that integrated university education with the hospital’s care and research activities. This partnership established a collaborative model that promotes the shared use of human, material, and technological resources, enhancing clinical training for students, supporting the continuous development of healthcare professionals, and advancing applied research in medical practice.
During the event, participants presented key updates to UIC Barcelona’s Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, along with several joint initiatives aimed at improving teaching, encouraging knowledge exchange, and consolidating shared research lines. The conference also provided an opportunity to explore new ways of embedding university teaching within the hospital’s care environment, through participatory dynamics that encouraged the creation of synergies between academic and clinical teams.
After more than 17 years of collaboration, UIC Barcelona and the Hospital General de Granollers continue to move forward together towards a university and healthcare model that integrates education, care and research. The “Exploring Opportunities” event reaffirmed their commitment to innovation, teaching quality, and the continuous improvement of the healthcare system, for the benefit of students and the wider care community.
