UIC Barcelona gets behind the ninth edition of the Antena Solidària
Over 500 runners and close to 100 volunteers took part in the ninth edition of the Antena Solidària Trail Pedralbes charity race, held last Saturday with UIC Barcelona as the main sponsor
On Saturday 15 November, the Antena Solidària Trail Pedralbes, a mountain race that takes place in the Collserola hills, brought together, for the ninth year in a row, runners, families and district residents, with all available bib numbers being taken. The aim of the event, organised by the Pedralbes Student Residence Hall and Pedralbes Neighbourhood Association, sponsored by UIC Barcelona and held in cooperation with multiple NGOs, is to have a direct impact on society.
The University, participating for the fourth straight year, reasserted its commitment to this charity sporting event. The team of volunteers from the Department of Physiotherapy at UIC Barcelona, coordinated by lecturer Carlos Zárate, offered post-race recovery services to runners with support from undergraduate students. In addition, the Faculty of Dentistry once again took part in the initiative “Run Without Resistance”, part of the National Plan Against Antibiotic Resistance (PRAN), with the presence of Faculty dean Dr Lluís Giner, whose objective was to raise awareness about the use of antibiotics. Participants were also present at the award ceremony.

The winners in the ninth edition included, in the half marathon (23 km) category, Jan Castillo Paredes (La Sportiva Team), followed by Victor Blasi and Adrià Bufort. On the women’s side, the winner was Muñeca Martí, followed by Jennifer Cordero and Maria Castellví, while in the 10-kilometre trail run, the victors were Stanislav Popov, in the men’s category, and Ivet Farriols Arimont, in the women’s category.
As a new addition, this year’s edition featured the first Sprint Pedralbes by Leo Boeck, a short race which involves climbing the 84 steps of the Monastery’s staircase, which brought added energy to the final stretch of the day. The winners were Ivet Farriols and Adrià Puig.
With this fourth edition as a primary sponsor, UIC Barcelona has consolidated itself as the main partner of an event that is firmly rooted in the districts of Pedralbes, Les Corts and Sarria-Sant Gervasi – the site of the Barcelona Campus. This highlights two of the University’s core values: a commitment to serving others and the promotion of solidarity.
