UIC Barcelona holds the 9th edition of UIC Social Day to promote social commitment
The campuses were inundated with social commitment and awareness through eight solidarity missions undertaken at the University
On Wednesday 5 November, UIC Barcelona celebrated a new edition of UIC Social Day. For yet another year, the campuses became a space for bringing volunteering closer to the university community, particularly to students.
According to Daniel Bonsfills, head of Solidarity at UIC Barcelona, “the aim of this event is, on the one hand, to raise awareness among students of the importance of helping those who need it most and, on the other, encouraging them to take part in the volunteering programmes that the University runs in partnership with other organisations.”
Throughout the morning, University students, teaching staff and workers had the opportunity to take part in the volunteering activities organised on both campuses. Some of the missions involved preparing breakfast for the homeless, writing Christmas cards for the elderly and making advent calendars alongside people with different abilities.

The missions received support from multiple social organisations, including AIS (Help for Disadvantaged Children), Casa Guadalupe, Hogar de María, T-Oigo, Aura Foundation and Aste Barcelona. “For the first time, this year’s participants also included Càritas Barcelona, who led a workshop aimed at showing the work they do with the young people and teenagers they support and educate,” added Bonsfills.
UIC Social Day has established itself as one of the key charitable activities offered by Student Services as part of student life at UIC Barcelona, aiming to promote volunteering and participation in all social initiatives organised by the University throughout the year.
