UIC Barcelona sets out a distinctive value proposition at the Saló: the UIC BCN Health seal

From today until Sunday, UIC Barcelona is presenting its multidisciplinary academic offering at the Saló de l’Ensenyament (Fira de Barcelona), with 16 bachelor’s degrees, 11 double degrees, 52 international double degrees and 23 officially recognised master’s degrees. The University is introducing the UIC BCN Health seal, which highlights its distinctive strength in the field of health. Under this umbrella, seven health-related disciplines – Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Sciences and Dentistry – are brought together and linked to three university clinics and a benchmark hospital network.

Under the motto “Real Health for a Real World”, UIC Barcelona is showcasing its academic experience and quality, built on nearly 30 years of innovative, simulation-based teaching, and almost 20 years of its Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, since in 2007 it became the first private university in Spain to offer a degree in Medicine.

Among the new developments for the next academic year are several master’s degrees and postgraduate programmes in both health and other subject areas, such as the Master’s Degree in AI for Business offered by the UIC Barcelona School of Management.

The UIC Barcelona stand presents the academic programmes delivered across the University’s two campuses. The Barcelona Campus is home to Humanities, Law, Business Administration and Management, Audiovisual Communication, Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, and Architecture. The Sant Cugat Campus brings together degrees in the biosciences and health field (Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Sciences and Dentistry), alongside Pre-Primary Education and Primary Education. This is a health ecosystem integrated within the facilities of the Hospital Universitari General de Catalunya, a university hospital affiliated to the University (together with the Hospital de Granollers and the CST).

The rector, Alfonso Méndiz, took part today in the institutional delegation and visited the UIC Barcelona stand, stressing that “we are an innovative, humanistic and sustainable institution, committed to society, with a clear mission: to humanise the transformation of society. At the Saló, we are pleased to present all our accredited academic experience and quality, as we prepare to celebrate the University’s 30th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of our Medicine programme UIC BCN Health is a clear, robust and distinctive value proposition from UIC Barcelona, built on almost 30 years of experience during which we have consolidated an academic offering integrated into our own ecosystem.”

The Minister for Research and Universities, Nuria Montserrat Pulido, also visited the UIC Barcelona stand, accompanied by the chair of the Board of Trustees, Miquel Angel Cazcarra, the rector, Alfonso Méndiz, and the general manager, Josep Maria Torné.

UIC BCN Health: experience, excellence and real impact in education

UIC BCN Health represents UIC Barcelona’s health ecosystem and ensures that students gain real exposure to the health sector from the very beginning, with simulation as a core guarantee of their training. The seven health disciplines coexist in an integrated campus within the Hospital Universitari General de Catalunya, with three university clinics, a benchmark hospital network (Hospital Universitari General de Catalunya, Hospital General de Granollers, Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa and EAP Sardenya), and a Comprehensive Centre for Advanced Simulation (CISA) covering more than 1,000 square metres. This centre enables students to undertake simulated practice in a realistic clinical environment from day one, ensuring a guided experience and a safe learning process, supported by practising professionals.

UIC BCN Health also brings together research laboratories in biomedicine and bioengineering, physiotherapy gyms, and three university clinics: The Support University Psychology and Psychiatry Clinic, the University Dental Clinic, and Cuides UIC Barcelona, a clinic providing care for advanced illness and palliative care.

Three new health-related master’s degrees

One of this year’s key developments is the launch of three master’s degrees, which will be taught in English and Spanish, all linked to the field of health:

The University Master’s Degree in Respiratory and Cardiac Physiotherapy, aimed at both professionals and researchers, addresses the growing need for highly qualified physiotherapists capable of providing comprehensive care for adult, paediatric and critically ill patients. The programme focuses on advanced specialisation to support interventions in highly complex respiratory and cardiac conditions.

UIC Barcelona is also launching its new International Lifelong Learning Master’s Degree in Bioethics and Healthcare Professionalism, aimed at graduates in health-related disciplines and professionals working in care, research or teaching within clinical or clinical–educational settings.

Finally, the new Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics and AI for Healthcare, offered through Biomedical Sciences, stands out as a unique programme that brings together bioinformatics and AI applied to health within a single degree. It is delivered entirely in English.

Two new specialisations in the Faculty of Communication Sciences

During the Saló de l’Ensenyament, UIC Barcelona is also presenting updates to the curricula of the bachelor’s degrees offered by the Faculty of Communication Sciences, which have been revised to reflect the transformation of the communication ecosystem and the demands of the professional sector. In this context, the faculty is introducing two new professional specialisations designed to enhance expertise and foster proficiency in emerging technologies: a specialisation in Corporate Communication for the Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, and a specialisation in Production and Directing for the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication.

93.75% graduate employment rate

With a graduate employment rate of 93.75% (according to AQU Catalunya), UIC Barcelona maintains strong connections with the business world and wider society through 14 chairs, four company classrooms, six research institutes and three university clinics. The employment rate of UIC Barcelona bachelor’s degree graduates is above the average for the Catalan university system.

The University’s more than 5,465 internship agreements with companies, together with the support of its University Advisory Council, made up of leading figures from the business, cultural and social spheres, help position UIC Barcelona as a platform linking students with the labour market.

The University has two campuses, one in Barcelona and the other in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The Barcelona Campus houses the faculties of Communication Sciences, Humanities, Law, the School of Management and the School of Architecture, as well as the Doctoral School and the Experience Campus for older learners.

Health-related degrees are taught at the Sant Cugat Campus, located within the Hospital Universitari General de Catalunya. Across more than 23,000 m² of academic space, the campus hosts the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (Physiotherapy, Medicine, Nursing, Bioengineering, Biomedical Sciences and Psychology), the Faculty of Dentistry, and the Faculty of Education. Sharing the campus with health professionals fosters synergies with other knowledge areas that are essential in education, such as Psychology and Neuroscience.

52 double degrees and 467 mobility agreements in 63 countries

UIC Barcelona has a strong international outlook and is open to the world. It offers 52 international double degrees and has 497 mobility agreements in place with 63 countries to promote international student mobility. Thirty-one per cent of its students are international, and its campuses bring together more than 100 nationalities, creating a multicultural environment that enriches the learning experience.

Presence in prestigious international rankings

UIC Barcelona’s presence in leading international rankings, such as the Shanghai Ranking and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, confirms the University’s international profile and prestige. The UIC Barcelona research community is also represented at the highest international level: nine UIC Barcelona researchers were included in 2025 in the Ranking of the World Scientists: World’s Top 2% Scientists compiled by Stanford University, which lists nearly 200,000 researchers across 26 different fields.
