The University Institute for Patient Care and ‘New Medical Economics’ is supporting a Conference on the care model for patients with neurological diseases

The University Institute for Patient Care at University, directed by Dr Boi Ruiz, and the leading reference journal New Medical Economics organised the conference titled "Care Pathway for Patients with Neurological Diseases." During the conference, the healthcare model aimed at these patients was discussed and worked on to better understand the unmet needs and define an action strategy from the current national and regional perspective.

The event took place on 18 September in the Auditorium on the University’s Sant Cugat Campus and was attended by Ariadna Mas, assistant director of Health Planning under the General Directorate General for Health Planning and Research of the Generalitat de Catalunya, who spoke in the opening session. 

Next, two working groups sessions and a panel discussion took place and were led by representatives of Catalan institutions in the health sector, as well as healthcare and hospital centres. The first session focused on the care pathways for patients with neurological diseases and the second session focused on care models aimed at these patients.

Dr Boi Ruiz, director of the UIC Barcelona University Institute for Patient Care, closed the event.

Biogen and Lundbeck, leading companies in neuroscience also participated in the conference organised by UIC Barcelona and the specialised health sector journal New Medical Economics.
