Care

Caring for the person in all their dimensions is a core part of UIC Barcelona’s vision. We understand health from a holistic perspective that encompasses physical, emotional, social and spiritual dimensions, and we work to address current challenges through a person-centred model of care.

This commitment is embodied through our three university clinics – the University Dental Clinic (CUO), the University Psychology and Psychiatry Clinic (Support) and the Clinic of Support for Advanced Diseases and Palliative Care (Cuides) – where teaching, research and clinical practice come together to offer high-quality, accessible and deeply human care.

University Dental Clinic (CUO)

At the University Dental Clinic (CUO), care is delivered through personalised attention that combines technical excellence with close, compassionate patient relationships. This approach is further extended through initiatives such as “Caring for Smiles, Changing Lives”, a socially driven programme that promotes oral health among people in vulnerable situations, both locally and internationally. This project is supported by committed organisations such as the Banc Sabadell Foundation, whose collaboration makes its social impact possible.

Support Clinic

The University Psychology and Psychiatry Clinic (Support) addresses emotional wellbeing across all stages of life through programmes structured around three main areas of care: Support Clinic, Support Corporate and Support Care. Its activity integrates clinical care, education and research to respond to one of the major challenges facing contemporary society: mental health.

Cuides UIC Barcelona Clinic

Cuides UIC Barcelona, Spain’s first university clinic specialising in palliative care, provides comprehensive support to patients with advanced illnesses and their families. Its multidisciplinary model focuses on accompaniment and personal dignity, incorporating volunteering and emotional support as essential components of care. This project is made possible through the collaboration of organisations and foundations committed to more humane and accessible healthcare.

Committed to comprehensive, human-centred care

This model of comprehensive care is further strengthened through initiatives such as the Nursing Care, Teaching and Research Units (AIDIR), which promote health education and practical student training in real clinical and social settings and the Healthcare Management and Health Policy Chair, developed with the support of the “la Caixa” Foundation, which fosters knowledge generation and the training of professionals capable of responding to the challenges of the healthcare system.

All these projects are made possible thanks to the collaboration of companies, institutions and foundations that share our commitment to people’s wellbeing. Their support enables innovative initiatives, strengthens the education of future professionals and contributes to a healthier and more equitable society.
