Four projects from UIC Barcelona selected for Cecot’s Healthcare pre-accelerator

Two projects led by researchers from the University’s Department of Psychology and two projects by students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences have been selected to take part in Cecot’s Healthcare pre-acceleration programme, an initiative which supports entrepreneurship in the health and care sector with a view to fostering startups and innovative projects.

This is the first time that projects developed at UIC Barcelona have been included in this programme. Medmind, led by Department of Psychology researcher Isabella Menghel; Neurodones, headed by Dr Anna Carballo, also from the Department of Psychology; AlSense, developed by Estel Gubianes, Estel Massip and Roger Solsona, students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences; and Good Microbiome, also involving student Roger Solsona, are the four projects selected from around twenty initiatives taking part in the programme’s fourth edition.

The programme provides a comprehensive training pathway, with the participation of leading healthcare companies from the Vallès region, and offers opportunities to engage with the health and social care ecosystem to validate ideas, expand projects and fast-track project development.

Cecot’s Healthcare pre-accelerator also gives participants the chance to present their projects to the Government of Catalonia and potentially be selected for Demo Day. From these, an expert jury will select six winning projects, which will have the opportunity to pitch at 4YFN 2027.

With the inclusion of these projects in Cecot’s entrepreneurship programme, UIC Barcelona once again proves that the research it conducts strengthens its institutional commitment to knowledge transfer, social impact and the development of innovative, high-impact solutions in the health sector.
