UIC Barcelona prioritises internationalisation and double degrees at the Saló de l'Ensenyament
The university is once again participating in the Saló de l'Ensenyament, where it has presented its academic offering, including 16 undergraduate degrees, 17 dual degrees, 49 international dual qualifications, and over 70 master's and postgraduate programmes
UIC Barcelona is taking part in the Saló de l'Ensenyament, which began on Wednesday 26 March and will run until Sunday 30 March at Fira de Barcelona. The University aims to showcase its broad academic offering, emphasising internationalisation and double degrees. In total, the University offers 16 degrees, 17 double degrees, 49 double international degrees and more than 70 masters and postgraduate degrees.
With more than 9,000 students, 31% of whom are international, UIC Barcelona is working to increase its English-taught degree programmes by 40% and to recruit more international lecturers.
As part of this commitment, the University will deliver the Bachelor's Degree in Bioengineering entirely in English. This programme boasts high employability rates due to the wide range of career opportunities it provides. Likewise, the Faculty of Communication Sciences will continue adapting its programmes to market demands. It has already achieved 25% of its courses in English and is working to link them to each professional field to enhance specialised language learning.
Regarding double degrees, the University continues to expand its offering for students. Specifically, the Faculty of Education has signed a new agreement with Westcliff University, enabling students to obtain a dual degree in just four years, with three years in Barcelona and one in California. This experience will allow them to develop key skills in a global educational setting, improve their English proficiency, and gain first-hand knowledge of the US education system.
The programme facilitates mobility and knowledge exchange in a multicultural environment. Furthermore, it boosts graduate employability and provides access to career opportunities in both private and public schools in the United States.
The rector of UIC Barcelona, Dr Alfonso Méndiz, took part alongside other rectors from Catalan universities in the institutional greeting held in the morning when the Saló opened to the public. He later visited the University's stand, where he engaged with advisers, lecturers, and students, highlighting the institution's commitment to high-quality education. At midday, the official inauguration of the Saló took place, presided over by the president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Mr Salvador Illa. The Rector had the opportunity to share UIC Barcelona's academic offering. “The Saló de l’Ensenyament is a unique opportunity to bring our range of programmes closer to future university students and reaffirm our commitment to excellence,” said the Rector.
The Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Transfer, Dr. Román Pérez, will welcome the Minister of Research and Universities, Núria Montserrat, on Friday during her visit to the Saló de l’Ensenyament, which will close its doors on Sunday

New master’s programmes
Another highlight of UIC Barcelona's presence at this year's Saló de l'Ensenyament is the introduction of the University’s new master's programmes. In this regard, the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences has launched an innovative Master's Degree in Cooperation, Development and Social Economy, which will be taught in English. With a practical and innovative approach, this programme equips students with the necessary tools to lead third-sector organisations and develop initiatives with social and economic impact.
In the field of nursing, UIC Barcelona has also added the Lifelong Learning Master’s Degree in Cosmetic Dermatology Nursing to its academic portfolio. This programme addresses the growing market demand and aims to train nurses through a blended learning format with a strong practical component.
Another newly created master's programme at UIC Barcelona is the Master's Degree in Bioengineering for Human Health, aimed at engineers seeking advanced training at the intersection of engineering and healthcare in a highly innovative and internationally recognised environment.
93.75% graduate employability rate
With a graduate employability rate of just over 93%, UIC Barcelona maintains strong connections with the business world and society through fifteen chairs, five corporate classrooms, five research institutes, and three university clinics. The employment rate for UIC Barcelona's undergraduate degree holders is above the system-wide average, with eight out of ten graduates applying the specific skills acquired in their studies to their professional roles, according to AQU Catalunya.
At UIC Barcelona, integrating recent graduates into the labour market is a top priority. Therefore, the University offers students an extensive range of internships from the outset. With more than 5,197 internship agreements and the support of the University Advisory Council, which comprises distinguished figures from the business, cultural, and social sectors, UIC Barcelona serves as a gateway to the job market.
