Ankyloglossia: a Multidisciplinary Perspective

Ankyloglossia: a Multidisciplinary Perspective uicadmin
930192304
Spanish

Ankyloglossia is a condition that has gained importance and attention thanks to the desire of many families to carry out exclusive breastfeeding and, upon encountering associated problems, seek a possible explanation for the difficulty.

Ankyloglossia does not only affect paediatric patients; it leads to consequences throughout life. These include mouth breathing, difficulty pronouncing certain phonemes, a tendency to choke and poor management of food in the mouth, digestive problems in paediatric patients, and altered growth of the maxilla and mandible, among other frequently observed consequences.

In this course, we aim to establish the foundations of ankyloglossia, learn how to diagnose and treat it (if our specialty allows for such competence). We will study both diagnostic and treatment techniques, including their appropriate timing. Finally, we will address post-surgical rehabilitation to achieve the best possible treatment outcome.
