2nd International Research Conference on Creative Industries (CIIIC)

Faculty of Communication Sciences Palacio Euskalduna de Bilbao

For the second consecutive year, the Faculty of Communication Sciences has organised the International Research Conference on Creative Industries (CIIIC) within the framework of BIME, the 14th edition of which is scheduled to take place from 27-30 October at Euskalduna Bilbao.

The conference, intended for scholars, aims to become a key reference in both academic and professional spheres, contributing to knowledge creation and the development of solutions to the sector’s challenges in Spanish-speaking markets, with music as a driving force for transformation in digitalisation, sustainability and new forms of cultural consumption.

The purpose of the gathering is to foster the development of innovative and sustainable business models, in dialogue and convergence with other markets and sectors within the creative industries. Researchers, professionals and academics will present their work on the music sector, exploring topics such as music business models, cultural policy and legislation, festivals and entertainment and education and training in the creative industries.

Isabel Villanueva, director of BIME and dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, underscored the significance of the congress: “There is a disconnect between academic research and the industry itself, and this congress is just the beginning of an event that will have an international reach,” explains the director. “We want to continue to work with institutions to strengthen the visibility of reports featuring new and previously unpublished data in this second edition,” she notes.

The Faculty of Communication Sciences is promoting lines of research related to audience engagement, and the academic congress provides an opportunity to showcase collaborative efforts between universities and researchers in the cultural industry.

The full program will be announced in the coming days.
