Who is it aimed at?

Dentists with little or no prior experience in implant rehabilitation.

Body

This intensive one-and-a-half-day course provides dentists with little or no prior experience a solid foundation in the diagnosis, treatment planning, surgical placement and prosthetic rehabilitation of basic single implants.

Specific objectives

  1. To understand the biological and anatomical principles of osseointegration, bone healing and the anatomical structures relevant to implant placement.
  2. To identify the indications, contraindications and patient selection criteria, considering systemic and local factors, as well as habits that influence the success of implant treatment.
  3. To properly interpret diagnostic tests (X-rays, CBCT and diagnostic wax-ups) and develop predictable treatment plans.
  4. To become familiar with implant systems, their morphology, components, materials and connection mechanisms.
  5. To develop basic skills in simple surgical techniques, including implant site preparation on models and an understanding of the surgical workflow.
  6. To identify the main early biological and mechanical complications associated with dental implants, as well as the protocols for implant maintenance and patient follow-up.
  7. To apply evidence-based clinical practice principles, integrating current scientific literature into clinical decision-making.
  8. To understand implant patient maintenance and follow-up protocols, as well as the early identification of biological and mechanical complications.
  9. To develop basic manual skills through hands-on practice on models and the observation of live surgeries. 

Learning outcomes

  • Ability to select and evaluate simple clinical cases suitable for single implant placement.
  • Knowledge and management of the basic surgical protocol in oral implantology.
  • Ability to perform initial diagnostic planning, interpret imaging studies and formulate a safe surgical plan.
  • Ability to handle basic instruments and understand how different implant systems work. Competence in the identification and basic management of early complications.
  • Understanding of the fundamental prosthodontic principles associated with single implant rehabilitation.
  • Development of a critical and reflective attitude aligned with scientific evidence-based clinical practice.
