Marc Grau-Grau
Marc Grau-Grau
Director of the Institute for Advanced Family Studies (IESF-UIC Barcelona).

Associate Professor of Social and Family Policies at the International University of Catalonia. He previously served as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences (2022–2025) and as a Research Fellow at the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard Kennedy School (2016–2022).

His research focuses on work–family balance, fatherhood, childcare, and family policies. He is co-editor of volumes such as The New Ideal Worker (Springer, 2019) and Engaged Fatherhood (Springer, 2022). His work has appeared in journals including Organization, Gender, Work & Organization, and Journal of Family Issues. He holds a PhD in Social Policy from the University of Edinburgh.

Elena Ruisánchez

Deputy Director of the Institute for Advanced Family Studies (IESF-UIC Barcelona).

She holds a degree in Philosophy and Arts from the University of Granada and has focused her career on training and leadership projects related to families and women. 

For over a decade, she led the Women and Family area at the Eastern Andalusia Delegation of Opus Dei, coordinating a network reaching over a thousand families. She has collaborated with organizations such as IFFD, Womet, and the Women and Society Forum, promoting female leadership and young talent development. She complements her experience with training in management, communication, and leadership, and is pursuing a Postgraduate Degree in Family Accompaniment and Guidance at UIC Barcelona.

Jeroen Spijker

Senior researcher at the Institute for Advanced Family Studies (IESF-UIC Barcelona).

Before joining UIC, he worked as a researcher at the Centre for Demographic Studies (CED) (2004–06; 2010–12; 2015–25), the Vienna Institute of Demography (2014), the University of Edinburgh (2012–14), and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2007–09).

He has published extensively on topics including population ageing, epidemiological and health transitions, trends in comorbidities and causes of death, modeling and forecasting causes of death, the supply and demand for informal carers, and the effect of digitalisation on the health of older workers.

He is currently the Principal Investigator of the R&D project Economic and Mental Well-Being over the Life Course: The Role of Health Status and Family Relationships (WELLHEALTHFAM, PID2023-152779OB-I00), funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. He holds a PhD in Spatial Sciences (specialization in Demography) from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.

She holds a Law degree from the University of Zaragoza and is a lawyer specializing in Family Law. She completed a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family at the University of Navarra, thus consolidating a solid legal and humanistic background in the field of family studies.

She joined the IESF in 2005, where she has developed a key career in the consolidation and academic development of its in-house programs. She designed and launched the Postgraduate Program in Marriage and Family Education. Currently, as Academic Coordinator, she promotes the development and quality of the Institute’s academic programs. She has also led the design of the Postgraduate Program in Family Support and Guidance, expanding the academic offer in response to new social and professional needs.

Cecilia Correa Ariztía
Cecilia Correa Ariztía
PhD candidate at the Institute for Advanced Family Studies (IESF-UIC Barcelona), funded by the Joaquim Molins Figueras Childcare and Family Policies Chair.

She holds degrees in History and Written Journalism, and a Master’s in Sociology and Innovation from the University of Barcelona. She has worked in journalism, academic and social research focused on informing social policy, as well as in the media, the third sector, and universities. Her research focuses on the social determinants of mental health and loneliness among young people, quality of life and inequalities, new social technologies, and the role of families in their use.

Montserrat Santigosa

Teaching Staff · Postgraduate Programme in Family Guidance and Counselling.

She holds a Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Navarra and has completed her training with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family (University of Navarra) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Specialisation in Speech and Language (Autonomous University of Barcelona). She is currently studying a Degree in Psychology at UNED, further expanding and updating her disciplinary background.

Since 2022, she has coordinated, together with M. Pilar Lacorte, the Postgraduate Programme in Family Guidance and Counselling at UIC Barcelona. She combines this role with university teaching in the field of intervention in learning difficulties, as well as with her professional activity in the educational and family sphere.

Student of the double degree in Humanities and Journalism at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC). She currently collaborates in the communication area of the Institute for Advanced Studies on the Family, participating in content management and institutional outreach projects.
