The alumnus from the Faculty of Communication Sciences Oriol Duran is the new Secretary of State for Communication and Media He graduated in from a licenciate degree in journalism from the 2000-2001 cohort, as well as studying at the Faculty of Humanities at UIC Barcelona.

Born in Sant Quintí de Mediona in 1978, Duran was a contributor to the weekly newspaper La Fura, SER Penedès-Garraf and Canal Blau de Vilanova before making the move to corporate communication. In this field, the journalist was head of communication for the Esquerra group in the Congress of Deputies and in the Senate, and was also head of communication for the Republican group in Barcelona City Council, where he coordinated health-related news during the pandemic for the Barcelona area.

In addition, he has served as head of the Press Office for the Spanish Ministry for Foreign Action and Open Government, and as director general of Analysis and Strategic Planning of External Action of the same Ministry.
