Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) and Align Technology, a company specialising in digital dentistry technologies and medical devices, have established the Align Technology Classroom within the Faculty of Dentistry to bring the latest technological innovations in clinical practice closer to students and professionals.

Led by Dr Óscar Figueras and coordinated by Dr Anaïs Ramírez, both lecturers and researchers at the Faculty of Dentistry, the new Classroom will bring digital workflows into dental education at a time when these technologies are transforming patient diagnosis, treatment planning and care.

The Classroom will host courses, seminars and other academic activities for undergraduate students and professionals in the sector. It will also promote knowledge transfer between the University and the industry and support the use of new digital tools in teaching, research and clinical practice.

Preparing future dentists for digital transformation

“The rapid pace of technological change means that collaboration between the Faculty and companies in the sector, such as Align Technology, is essential to providing students with education that responds to the profession's emerging challenges,” says Dr Lluís Giner, dean of the UIC Faculty of Dentistry. He also notes that proficiency in digital tools helps to improve patient care and the overall patient experience.

Montse Camacho, EMEA clinical director at Align Technology, says that the new Classroom will give future professionals access to the knowledge and technologies that are shaping the future of the profession and will help them prepare for the digital transformation of dentistry.

The new Classroom reinforces the Faculty of Dentistry’s commitment to education based on innovation, applied research and collaboration with the professional sector, while expanding its network of partnerships to give future dentists access to the latest technological advances.
