The fifth edition of the SDG Congress focuses on health, climate action and sustainable consumption, featuring 36 interdisciplinary student projects

The Office for Cooperation and Sustainable Development at UIC Barcelona has organised a new edition of the congress, bringing together 165 students from five degree programmes.

On 15 May, UIC Barcelona held the fifth edition of the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Congress at the Sant Cugat campus, with the theme “Health, climate action and sustainable consumption”. Organised by the University’s Office for Cooperation and Sustainable Development, the initiative brought together 165 students from the Bachelor’s Degrees in Pre-Primary Education, Primary Education, Psychology, Nursing, and Advertising and Public Relations, who presented a total of 36 projects in the form of research studies or intervention proposals applicable to a local context.

As in previous years, the congress followed a competitive format and involved groups of between two and six students, whose work was assessed by a panel of experts and members of the university community. Students presented research focused on challenges related to health, climate change and its social consequences, offering viable and sustainable solutions from the perspective of their respective disciplines.

The students’ research and intervention projects addressed these challenges from an interdisciplinary perspective, highlighting the cross-cutting nature of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the need for collaboration across different fields of knowledge to tackle current social and environmental challenges.

Most of the projects presented are part of the curriculum within specific course modules and contribute to student assessment. Once the evaluation process is complete, the panel will award two prizes, which will be announced shortly: one for the best research project and another for the best final-year intervention proposal.
