Who may submit a project/proposal?
Any undergraduate or postgraduate student at UIC Barcelona, in groups of two to six people.
What can be submitted?
Participants must select and research a problem or issue related to health and climate change and propose potential solutions. The results of the research must be presented in one of the accepted formats: research project or intervention proposal.
How will it work?
Participants will deliver an oral presentation to a group of expert evaluators and the university community addressing a research project or intervention proposal on a situation or problem related to climate action (SDG 13) and its ethical and social consequences.
Presentations must be based on research and must present feasible solutions from the perspective of the undergraduate or postgraduate course that the students are studying (Education, Bioengineering, Health, Psychology, Communication, Economics, Law...).
If the chosen format is an intervention proposal, it must be applicable to the local environment.
What will be assessed?
The feasibility and sustainability of the project's presentation and implementation will be assessed.
The evaluation of the research project will assess the rigour with which it analyses the problem from a comprehensive sustainability perspective, as well as the effectiveness of its presentation. Projects must also include the following points: title, theoretical framework, research objectives, research methodology, results, discussion and bibliography. Lastly, the presentation should not exceed 10 minutes.
In the intervention proposal category, submissions must include the following elements: objectives, justification of the intervention proposal, implementation methodology, discussion and bibliography. The presentation time must also be kept to a maximum of 10 minutes.
Recognition
Most submitted projects will be part of a course curriculum and will therefore count towards the subject's final mark.
A total of three prizes will be awarded:
- 1st prize for best research project (undergraduate): academic certificate and a €300 gift voucher to FNAC.
- 1st prize for best research project (postgraduate): academic certificate and a €300 gift voucher to FNAC.
