6.2.2 GreenMetric
The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking on Sustainability is an initiative of the University of Indonesia, which was carried out for the first time in 2010 and evaluates the university's policy and practice based on six categories; Environment and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transport (TR) and Education and Research (ED) and respond to the ODS sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda, to measure campus sustainability efforts. The intent was to create an online survey to describe sustainability policies and programs for universities around the world.
For the fifth year running, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) has taken part in this world sustainability ranking for universities and has achieved 297th place out of 1,477 universities.

UN Environment’s challenge in the 2030 Agenda is to develop and enhance integrated approaches to sustainable development – approaches that will demonstrate how improving the health of the environment will bring social and economic benefits. Aiming at reducing environmental risks and increasing the resilience of societies and the environment, UN Environment action fosters the environmental dimension of sustainable development and leads to socio-economic development (UNEP, n.d.). These 17 aspects of SDGs are captured in the UI GreenMetric criteria and indicators.
