Javier Menor and Alicia de Carlos named “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers 2026
Two lecturers from the Faculty of Law at UIC Barcelona have received the highest recognition from the international directory, which also includes more than 40 of the University’s lecturers among the best lawyers in the country
Best Lawyers 2026 has named Javier Menor (Baker & McKenzie) and Alicia de Carlos (Cuatrecasas) as “Lawyer of the Year” in Spain in the categories of European Union Law and Probates & Estates, respectively. The lecturers, who teach in various programmes at the Faculty of Law at UIC Barcelona, have thus received the highest distinction awarded by the directory, based on peer evaluation and considered one of the most relevant indicators of professional prestige in the legal field.
In addition to these awards, the Faculty of Law has once again achieved a prominent presence in the latest edition of Best Lawyers, with more than 40 lecturers recognised among the most highly rated profiles in the national legal sector. The directory evaluates professionals each year through a peer review process that considers experience, technical competence and reputation among colleagues.
From the Bachelor’s Degree in Law, the following lecturers were recognised: Alberto Heras (Ramón y Cajal), Jordi de Juan (Crowe), Miguel Vidal-Quadras (Vidal Quadras & Ramón), Nuria García Puigpelat (AVQ) and Tiziana di Ciommo (PwC), in addition to award-winner Javier Menor (Baker & McKenzie). According to the Faculty, their involvement in teaching helps strengthen the connection between theoretical training and professional practice.
Regarding the University Master’s Degree in Law and Legal Practice (MUAP), the programme includes recognised lecturers such as Alejandro Auset (Cuatrecasas), Carlos Alonso (Manubens), Fede Segura (Roca & Junyent), Fernando Jaureguízar (AVQ), Ignacio de Albiñana and Jorge Azagra (Uría Menéndez), Iñigo de Ros (RCD), Mar Alcaraz (Ramón y Cajal), M. Jesús Parra (Crowe), Miguel Vidal-Quadras (Vidal Quadras & Ramón), Tiziana di Ciommo (PwC), Xavier Amat (AVQ) and Xavier Serramalera (Roca Junyent).
From the Lifelong Learning Master’s Degree in Taxation Law: Planning and Guidance (MAF), the following lecturers were recognised: Alicia de Carlos, Antonio Gil, Carlos Ramírez, Carlos Onandia, Conchi Bargalló, Cristina Coca, Francesc Benabarre, Héctor de Urrutia, Jaume Bonet, Jaume Duch, Javier Ragué, Joan Hortalà, Marc Callejo, María Moína, Meritxell Yus, Nuria Nicolau, Pablo Espolita, Pedro Blázquez, Pedro Bosch, Pedro Sotomayor and Xavier Xivillé, as well as graduates Oriol Oliva and Óscar Bertrán, all of whom are associated with Cuatrecasas.
The list also includes lecturer Jose Carnerero (EY), recognised in the Postgraduate Programme in Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A).
The Faculty highlights that, once again, the significant presence of its teaching staff in the directory reflects the professional quality of its academic collaborators, consolidating and strengthening ties with the legal sector as one of the Faculty of Law’s distinctive and strategic features.
