Official Statement (12/11/24. 22.00h) UIC Barcelona announces flexibility measures for November 13, 2024, due to heavy rainfall in southern Catalonia
We inform you that Civil Protection has activated the Inuncat emergency plan this afternoon, entering an alert phase due to the forecast of intense rainfall, particularly affecting southern Catalonia tomorrow. On Wednesday, November 13, from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM, the government has restricted mobility in five counties: Tarragonès, Montsià, Baix Ebre, Ribera d’Ebre, and Baix Camp.
For students, administrative staff (PAS), and faculty (PDI) residing in these counties, the University will once again apply flexibility measures throughout the day tomorrow to avoid unnecessary travel.
Students from these areas will be able to make up the classes missed on November 13, 2024, in the best way they agree upon with their professors. Faculty members will postpone assessment activities whenever possible. If this is not possible, students who cannot travel will be assessed at a later date.
As for the faculty (PDI) from these areas, we recommend you contact your dean to organize your academic activities for tomorrow. For administrative staff (PAS), please reach out to your department head to explore the possibility of working remotely.
As always, we urge the entire university community to stay alert to the recommendations and potential alerts from Civil Protection and follow any further communications from UIC Barcelona, depending on the development of the storm.
