One Day Compliance 2025 consolidates the evolution of compliance into a strategic and sustainable function

UIC Barcelona hosts the eighth edition of the congress, which brought together the main experts and leaders in the compliance sector

The 8th edition of One Day Compliance, organised by CUMPLEN, the association of compliance professionals, brought together more than 260 professionals in the field of compliance, corporate ethics and good governance at UIC Barcelona.  The meeting was marked by strategic reflection, practical inspiration and commitment to a business culture that is more integral, sustainable and connected to global challenges.

During the event, experts from various sectors shared their vision of the new role of the compliance officer, addressing issues such as digital transformation, criminal risks associated with artificial intelligence, management of third parties following the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the integration of compliance with good governance and sustainability.  The event also emphasised the value of real experience with an inspirational discussion with leading figures from cultural, sporting and social spheres.

“This edition has brought to the fore that compliance is no longer just a monitoring tool, but a central axis for building trust, preventing risks and leading from values,” said Miguel Soler Ruiz-Boada, president of CUMPLEN. Miquel Fortuny Cendra, vice-president of CUMPLEN and delegate in Catalonia, stressed that One Day Compliance is “much more than an event: it is a community in action, diverse and committed to the future of compliance”.

“We have reviewed current issues today that affect us as compliance officers, but the reality is that we have been on board for a long time, since before AI appeared, so we are prepared for change,” said Dr Alejandra Vargas, speaker and director of the Postgraduate Course in Compliance and Cybersecurity at UIC Barcelona.

The conference was inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr Rafael Oliver, and was sponsored by entities committed to professionalising the sector such as EQS Group, KPMG, Lefebvre, AENOR and Dow Jones.
