Scenes from Merlí, Matrix, Ferris Bueller and The Breakfast Club, the leading remakes of Filmmaking 2019

Audiovisual Communication first-year students recreate scenes from the chosen series and films

Scenes from the acclaimed series Merlí, the Oscar-winning Matrix; the Ferris Bueller film, written and directed by John Hughes, and The Breakfast Club, have featured in the fourth edition of Filmmaking.

The staging of the four remakes was performed in an event presented by César Mestre and Valeria Gálvez. It featured the work of Ariadna Xairó, Adrià Borillo, Adrian Rodriguez, Berta Aliaga, David Cañete, Elia Royo, Gerard Estarelles, Itziar Fernández, Juan Carlos Niculica, Laura Leonelli, Luna Millán, Laura Castro, Natalia Perez, Manzanares, Paula Ibáñez and Leire Gonzalez.

This extra-curricular activity brings together students from the faculty, in this case Audiovisual Communication first-year students, to learn how to recreate legendary scenes from the big and small screen. “It is amazing to see how they progress. This group is going to be promising if it continues to work hard and is demanding”, stated the lecturer and film director, Geoffrey Cowper, who led the activity together with Óscar Sueiro.

The dean Alfonso Méndiz admitted that “you can tell there has been progress and that they have learnt to work in a team”. Additionally, he confirms that, as an extra-curricular activity, it proves the students’ interest in going beyond what they learn in class. “Motivation is liking making films and wanting to make films”.
