UIC and Corus create a new university classroom to drive innovation and training in dental prosthetics
The Corus Classroom, affiliated with the Faculty of Dentistry, will promote research, knowledge transfer and collaboration among industry professionals in a field undergoing rapid digital transformation
Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and Corus, a European group specialising in dental prosthetics and orthodontics, have entered into a cooperation agreement to establish the Corus Classroom, linked to the University’s Faculty of Dentistry.
The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge, technological innovation and clinical dental practice through training, research and knowledge-sharing activities. It will also strengthen the ties between the University and the sector at a time when digitalisation is transforming the design and manufacture of dental prostheses, as well as workflows between dental laboratories and clinics.
According to Dr Lluís Giner, dean of UIC Barcelona’s Faculty of Dentistry, “the transformation of dentistry must go hand in hand with scientific knowledge and training that enables innovation to be translated into professional practice. This classroom gives us an opportunity to bring the realities of the sector to the University and work together on initiatives that help prepare better professionals.”
The Corus Classroom will also spearhead initiatives in areas where dental prosthetics can make a particularly significant difference, such as care for older people and patients with special needs.
The creation of the Corus Classroom builds on more than a decade of collaboration between Corus professionals and UIC’s Faculty of Dentistry, primarily in the areas of training, digitalisation and dental prosthetics.
