UIC Barcelona among the top 40 universities in the world for Dentistry, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject

Within Spain, the University maintains the same position as in the previous edition, ranking second among the five Spanish universities included and first among private universities.

UIC Barcelona features in the 2026 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, one of the most prestigious international rankings in higher education, which evaluates university performance across 55 academic disciplines worldwide.

In this edition, UIC Barcelona has improved its performance in the field of Dentistry, placing 36th globally among the 150 ranked institutions. This positions the University within the global Top 40 in this discipline and, at the national level, it retains its position from the previous edition, ranking second among the five Spanish universities listed and first among private universities.

This result consolidates Dentistry as one of the University’s leading areas of international excellence and reflects the strength of the academic and scientific project carried out in recent years. The discipline has also climbed 14 places compared with the previous edition, achieving its best recent result in this ranking.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluates several indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, research impact measured through scientific citations and the H-index of researchers.

In Dentistry, UIC Barcelona’s results stand out particularly for the high scientific impact of its research, with very strong scores in indicators such as citations per paper (95.4) and H-index (90.4), demonstrating the quality and international visibility of the scientific output in this field.

In addition to research impact, the discipline also achieves solid results in academic reputation and employer recognition, reflecting the prestige of the education offered and the value it holds within the professional sector.

This achievement reinforces the international standing of Dentistry at UIC Barcelona and underlines the quality of its research, its recognition within the academic community and its global outlook.

The 2026 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject analysed 55 disciplines grouped into five broad areas: Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Management. In total, 1,906 higher education institutions from 166 countries were ranked.
