Organised by: Associació Cultural Gausac is a university centre for girls providing academic, cultural, sporting, voluntary, and human and Christian development activities inspired by a holistic view of the person.

Description: The project involves teaching children aged three to seven in various subjects with the support of the school’s teaching staff and students from Education and Psychology; building furniture for two classrooms; and delivering health education sessions for mothers and local women together with students of Physiotherapy, Dentistry, Nursing and Medicine.
Volunteers will take part in a preparatory session in June covering Kenyan culture and sociopolitical context, anthropology, self-awareness and teamwork.

Organised by: The Col·legi Major Bonaigua a women’s residence hall that offers full board as well as academic, cultural, sporting, voluntary, and human and Christian development activities inspired by a holistic view of the person.

Description: This volunteering initiative, known as Projeto Inspiração, has been running for five years in the municipality of Itapissuma near Recife (Brazil). Tasks include:

• Home visits alongside local volunteers to detect social, educational and health needs and collect relevant information through questionnaires previously coordinated with the Department of Education.
• Educational and health promotion workshops in municipal schools on child and family psychology, values education, nutrition, hygiene, emotional support, and educational and recreational activities.
• Daily spaces for reflection and training, with sessions designed to broaden participants’ social perspective.

Preparatory training and prior volunteering in Barcelona are required.

It is especially aimed at students of Medicine, Nursing, and Psychology, although it is open to the entire university community.

Dates: 15–27 July

Estimated cost: Includes accommodation, meals and local transport. Students only need to pay for the flight.

Organised by: ADESCI, a non-profit organisation founded in 2006 by young people wishing to contribute to improving the wellbeing of vulnerable populations. The volunteering work is carried out to help the Emorogi community, in collaboration with local residents.

Description: ADESCI has developed cooperation projects in Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo and Uganda, combining fieldwork with ongoing support and fundraising campaigns. In Kenya, volunteers live alongside local volunteers from the Emorogi community. The main volunteering activities include:

• Daily medical and dental care using mobile units serving people in remote areas (around 2,000 beneficiaries each summer).
• Construction and refurbishment of school facilities such as classrooms and toilets for a school with 400 pupils.
• Summer school activities promoting values and benefiting more than 700 children through cultural, sporting and academic sessions.

Health-related tasks require senior students of Medicine and Dentistry while volunteers from other disciplines can contribute to the other activities.

• Medical volunteer programme: *It is essential to be in at least your 3rd year of Medicine or Nursing.

Organised by: ITRAN an NGO founded in Barcelona in 1999, works towards the development of rural Moroccan communities, particularly through supplying locally produced school materials. It also promotes social and cultural initiatives supporting women and children and fosters integration and intercultural dialogue in Spain.

Description: A seven-day cultural and solidarity trip to support ITRAN’s social programmes for children and vulnerable communities in rural areas. Over seven days, volunteers will carry out activities that include oral-hygiene talks adapted to different age groups and distribution of winter clothing and essential materials, coordinated with the local team. The programme also includes visits to Fez, Midelt, Imitchil, the Merzouga desert and Meknes to understand the region’s historical, social and cultural context. A preparatory session ensures responsible and respectful participation.

The activity is aimed especially at students of Dentistry and Education, though it is open to all degrees.

Organised by: Lahu Association and SomLahu Association in the community of Kanglaung, northern Thailand, near Chiang Rai and the Myanmar border. The area is home to Lahu families who have fled conflict in Myanmar over the past fifty years and often lack full citizenship and access to basic rights.

Description: The CAFÉ LAHU project, co-led by a Lahu woman and a Catalan coordinator, promotes community empowerment through a shift from maize monoculture to coffee cultivation and responsible tourism. It supports women’s leadership, environmental awareness, cultural preservation and improvements to water-supply infrastructure. Volunteers will help with farm work and the preservation of Lahu culture, staying in local homes.

Volunteers will collaborate with:

• English classes: supporting the local primary school through conversation activities, games and participatory tasks.
• Agricultural work: helping families in the fields, including planting and caring for fruit trees (season dependent).
• Community improvement: contributing to village and mountain-area clean-ups.
• Cultural preservation: taking part in cultural workshops and helping produce simple materials to share and protect Lahu heritage.

Each volunteer will have an individual introductory meeting, followed by a group session before departure.
