UIC Barcelona, through the Alumni & Careers Service and Vice-Rectorate for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, has organised the second edition of the Emprèn lecture series on entrepreneurship.

Following the positive response from both the public and speakers to the first edition, which took place during the 2020-2021 academic year, UIC Barcelona has launched a new edition which will feature the same format as last year: five on-site and online expert-led information and discussion sessions which aim to provide information about and promote entrepreneurship among the university community and, by doing so, boost the creation of start-ups, spin-offs and innovative business ventures.

The first session will be held on-site on 17 May at 5.30 p.m. in the Saló de Graus on the Barcelona Campus, and may also be watched online via UIC Barcelona’s LinkedIn Live account. Under the title Key Entrepreneurial Skills and Abilities, several industry professionals will be on hand to provide their opinions as part of a round table discussion moderated by Isabella Meneghel, lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences’ Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at UIC Barcelona.

About the session

The experts slated to take part in the round table will explain the skills and attitudes a person needs to become an entrepreneur. The session will also provide the opportunity to discuss the professional profiles these entrepreneurs look for in team members, particularly in the initial stages of a business venture.

About the speakers

• Ignasi Belda, entrepreneur and founder of several companies. He also currently lectures in the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences at UIC Barcelona.
• Jordi Arànega (UIC Barcelona alumnus, ’02, Business Administration and Management), entrepreneur and current vice-president and board member at Hengrui Corporation.
• Ramón Saltor, investor and director general of Dozen Investments.
• Cruz Mendigutía, responsible for finding and assessing technologies for technological transfer and investment at BeAble Capital.
