Alumni member Silvia Mas, world champion at the 470 World Sailing Championship

The yachtswoman and former student of the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences won a gold medal for the 470 World Championship, the last major test before the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Silvia Mas was proclaimed world champion at the 470 World Sailing Championship after winning the Medal Race in Vilamoura (Portugal). The former student from the UIC Barcelona faculty of Economic and Social Sciences and her partner Patricia Cantero managed to win the gold medal, in a test that forced the crew to give the best of themselves right until the end.

Aged only 24, Mas has confirmed her position as one of the best young yachtswomen on the national sailing scene. After being declared world champion in the junior category in 2017 and runner-up in the 2018 senior world championship, the Barcelona native has finally been able to climb to the top of the 470 World Championship podium.

The next important date marked in Silvia Mas's diary is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games to be held this summer. We hope that she will continue to shine.
